South Sumatra Province recorded a total export volume of 5.14 million tons in January 2025. However, for exports categorized under the SITC (Standard International Trade Classification) code 23 (crude, synthetic, and reclaimed rubber), the province saw a decrease to 64.79 million tons in January 2025.
This decline in export value contributed to a decrease in foreign exchange reserves and the total export value, which had previously been on an upward trend for the past five months. According to Bank Indonesia (BI) records, exports from this province in the same period the previous year were recorded at 64.41 million tons.
South Sumatra's customs import documents recorded 19 groups of goods exported from the province. These goods are grouped into 2-digit SITC codes. The group with the highest export volume was SITC code 32 (coal, coke, and briquettes).
Based on the last 16 months of historical data, South Sumatra's highest export volume was recorded in August 2024 at 72.44 million tons, while the lowest was in April 2024 at 49.12 million tons.
