Indonesia is one of the world's largest exporters of palm oil (Crude Palm Oil/CPO). China and India are the largest markets for Indonesia's palm oil exports.
CPO exports to these two countries account for 29% of Indonesia's total palm oil export value. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the value of CPO exports to China reached US$4.55 billion from January to November 2021. This represents 17.47% of Indonesia's total palm oil export value.
The next largest export destination for CPO is India, at US$3.11 billion (11.96%). This is followed by Pakistan at US$2.46 billion, the United States at US$1.61 billion (9.44%), Bangladesh at US$1.26 billion (4.83%), and Malaysia at US$1.21 billion (4.65%).
Palm oil exports to the United States from January to September 2021 recorded the highest growth, at 136.4% compared to the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, exports to India only increased by 17.98%, the lowest among the five largest CPO export destinations.
Indonesia's total CPO export value reached US$26.03 billion from January to November 2021. This represents a 61.72% increase compared to the same period the previous year, which was US$16.1 billion.
