China, Indonesia's Top Destination for Palm Oil Exports in H1 2025

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Indonesia exported 12.4 million tons of palm oil in the first half of 2025.

The export value reached US$13.53 billion, or approximately Rp222.43 trillion (assuming Rp16,435 per US$).

In the first half of this year, China was the main destination for Indonesian palm oil exports, with a volume of 1.74 million tons, equivalent to 14% of total national exports.

The following is a list of the top 10 export destinations for Indonesian palm oil based on volume in the first half of 2025:

1. China: 1.74 million tons

2. India: 1.47 million tons

3. Pakistan: 1.32 million tons

4. Bangladesh: 762,130 tons

5. United States: 751,190 tons

6. Malaysia: 616,170 tons

7. Egypt: 554,260 tons

8. Russia: 378,100 tons

9. Vietnam: 337,570 tons

10. Brazil: 268,470 tons

In addition to these 10 countries, Indonesia also exported similar products to other countries with a combined volume of 4.22 million tons.

In the second half of this year, the Indonesian government reached an agreement with the European Union, allowing Indonesia to export 1 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) per year to the EU duty-free.

This agreement is part of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).

"In the agreement, we agreed on two commodities, namely CPO and palm kernel oil (PKO). We agreed on a quota, where for CPO it's around 1 million tons and PKO depends on last year's exports to the EU," said Airlangga, as reported by Tempo.co (31/7/2025).

According to Airlangga, the agreement will be ratified in September 2025.
