Indonesia's Furniture Exports Reach Rp 28.6 Trillion, US is Largest Market

Indonesian furniture has long been renowned for its unique characteristics and the use of high-quality wood. The combination of environmentally friendly materials also contributes to its popularity in international markets, including Europe, America, Asia, and Africa.

Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that the value of national wood furniture exports from January to December 2021 reached US$1.99 billion, or approximately Rp 28.6 trillion.

This represents a 32.54% increase compared to sales in the same period the previous year, which amounted to US$1.5 billion, or approximately Rp 21.65 trillion.

In terms of volume, exports reached 508.7 million kg. This volume increased by 20.46% compared to exports in the same period of 2020, which totaled 422.3 million kg.

The main export destinations for Indonesian wood furniture in 2021 were:

Several regions in Indonesia are known as major wood furniture production centers, such as Pasuruan and Jepara. In Pasuruan, two villages are centers for wood furniture production. In Jepara, almost 80% of the population is involved in the furniture industry.
