BPS Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics, Setianto, stated that three countries contributed the highest non-oil and gas trade surplus to Indonesia last month: India, the United States, and the Philippines.

"Indonesia had a surplus with India of US$1.81 billion. This is mainly for animal and vegetable fats and oils, mineral fuels, and inorganic chemicals," said Setianto in a press conference on Thursday (15/9/2022).

Furthermore, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus with the United States of US$1.65 billion. This surplus mainly originated from electrical machinery and equipment and parts, animal and vegetable fats and oils, and clothing and accessories.

Meanwhile, the trade surplus with the Philippines reached US$1.09 billion, primarily from mineral fuels, vehicles and parts, and iron and steel.

On the other hand, in August 2022, Indonesia recorded the highest non-oil and gas trade deficit with Australia, amounting to US$678.6 million, mainly in cereals and mineral fuels.

Then, the trade deficit with China amounted to US$411.7 million, the largest for mechanical machinery and equipment and parts, and electrical machinery and equipment and parts.

Indonesia also recorded a trade deficit with Thailand of US$289.1 million, mainly for mechanical machinery and equipment and parts, as well as plastics and plastic goods.
