The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's gas exports reached US$5.5 billion in 2020. This is a 33.73% decrease from the previous year's US$8.3 billion.
Gas export values increased from 2016 to 2018. However, the figure decreased by 20.2% in 2019 and 33.73% in 2020.
Meanwhile, the volume of gas exports increased in 2017, then decreased for the following three years. In 2020, the volume of gas exports was recorded at 18.6 million tons, 2.6% lower than the previous year's 19.1 million tons.
Singapore was the main destination for Indonesian gas exports. The value of gas exports to Singapore reached US$1.75 billion with a volume of 6.1 million tons in 2020.
China was in second place with gas export values reaching US$1.54 billion last year. Exports to Japan and South Korea reached US$775.4 million and US$756.3 million respectively.
Indonesia also exported gas to Taiwan, valued at US$356.8 million. Gas exports to Malaysia and Mexico were valued at US$124.4 million and US$74.8 million respectively.
