According to BPS, the majority of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in August 2023 used air transport, totaling 826,440 visits. This accounts for 73% of the total foreign tourist visits that month.

Furthermore, there were 126,040 foreign tourist visits via sea transport (11.13%), and 26,990 visits via land transport (2.38%). Meanwhile, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia through border crossings totaled 153,140 (13.52%).

The majority of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in August 2023 came from Malaysia, with 174,790 visits (15.43%), followed by Australia with 129,060 visits (11.39%), Singapore with 105,460 visits (9.31%), China with 85,200 visits (7.52%), and Timor Leste with 64,290 visits (5.68%).

Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to August 2023 reached 7.44 million, up 166.12% compared to the same period last year. From January to August 2022, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia was only 2.79 million.
