Impact of PPKM: Zero Tourist Arrivals in Bali during July 2021

The implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) has severely impacted Bali's tourism sector. This is reflected in the zero foreign tourist visits to Bali in July 2021.

The decline in foreign tourist arrivals is also cumulative. A total of only 43 foreign tourist visits were recorded, a 99.99% decrease compared to the same period the previous year, which saw 1,069,181 visits.

In addition to foreign tourist visits, the occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in Bali decreased by 11.45 percentage points, from 16.68% in June 2021 to 5.23% in July 2021. The largest decrease was in the occupancy rate of 5-star hotels, a drop of 16.94 percentage points from 22.61% to 5.67%.

However, the occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in Bali increased by 2.66 percentage points compared to July 2020, which was only 2.57%. The highest increase was in the occupancy rate of 5-star hotels, a rise of 4 percentage points from 1.67% to 5.67%.

According to the BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics), there was a decrease in the number of accommodation businesses and hotels operating, resulting in limited data collected from only those still in operation. Therefore, detailed information by regency/city is not presented.
