The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that there were 15.4 million foreign tourists visiting Indonesia throughout 2025.

Most of these foreign tourists were from the millennial generation (29-44 years old), accounting for 32.61% of total visits during this period.

"This shows that the main market for Indonesian tourism is in the age group that is at the peak of their careers and has relatively stable purchasing power," wrote BPS in a report titled "Statistical Data on Foreign Tourist Visits 2025".

Then, the proportion of foreign tourists from Generation X (45-60 years old) was 25.18%, Generation Z (13-28 years old) 19.27%, and Boomers and Pre-Boomers (over 61 years old) 15.19%.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists from younger groups or post-Generation Z (under 12 years old) were the lowest, with a proportion of only 7.75%.

In general, millennial foreign tourists dominate almost all regions of origin. The highest percentages came from Africa with 43.14% and the Middle East with 41.37%.
