According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there were 1.40 million visits by foreign tourists to Indonesia in December 2025.

The number increased by 17.25% month-on-month (mtm). Similarly, on an annual basis, the number of visits to Indonesia rose by 14.43% (year-on-year/yoy) compared to December 2024.

The majority of foreign tourists in December 2025 entered Indonesia through the main ports, with 1.22 million visits. Then there were 182,87 thousand visits through border entry points.

Based on their mode of transportation, a total of 888,66 thousand foreign tourists entered Indonesia by air; 275,87 thousand visits were by sea; and 58,46 thousand visits were by land.

At the end of 2025, the most foreign tourists came from Malaysia (17.3%), followed by tourists from Singapore (14.5%), Australia (11%), Timor Leste (8.5%), and China (7.2%).

BPS also noted that the average length of stay of foreign tourists in Indonesia during this period was 18.37 nights. This increased from December 2024 (yoy), which was only 11.42 nights.

Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia throughout January-December 2025 reached 15.38 million people. This figure rose by 10.80% (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc) compared to the same period last year.

"The number of foreign tourist visits in 2025 is the highest in the last 6 years, or since 2020. However, it is still slightly lower compared to 2019 before the pandemic," said BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono in a press release on Monday (2/2/2026).

The number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in 2019 reached 16.10 million visits.
