Based on transportation mode, 1.11 million foreign tourists entered Indonesia by air; 188.26 thousand visits by sea; and 38.71 thousand visits by land.

In August 2025, the largest number of foreign tourists came from Malaysia (15.3%), followed by tourists from Australia (10.3%), China (9.3%), Singapore (8.6%), and Timor Leste (5.9%).

BPS also noted that the average length of stay for foreign tourists in Indonesia during this period was 11.02 nights. This is an increase from August 2024 (yoy), when the duration was only 8.27 nights.

Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist visits to the country from January-August 2025 reached 10.03 million people. This figure grew by 10.38% (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc) compared to the same period last year.

This is the highest achievement since 2020, but it has not yet surpassed the number of foreign tourist visits in January-August 2019, which reached 10.71 million visits.
