The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported 1.27 million foreign tourist visits (wisman) to Indonesia in September 2024. This represents a 4.53% month-to-month (mtm) decrease. However, year-on-year (yoy), the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia surged by 19.53% compared to September 2023.

The majority of foreign tourists in September 2024 entered Indonesia through main entry points (1.12 million visits), with 157,970 visits through border crossings.

By mode of transportation, 941,900 foreign tourists entered Indonesia by air, 150,000 by sea, and 29,380 by land.

In September, the largest number of foreign tourists came from Malaysia (18.3%), followed by Australia (12.5%), China (8.9%), Singapore (8.4%), and Timor Leste (5.2%).

Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to September 2024 reached 10.37 million. This is a 20.28% cumulative-to-cumulative (ctc) increase compared to the same period last year.

Recorded foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to September 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, reached 12.10 million.
