According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of foreign tourist visits (wisman) to Indonesia consistently increased throughout April-June or the second quarter of 2024.

In June 2024, the number reached 1.17 million visits, a 2.05% increase compared to the previous month (month-to-month/MoM) and a surge of 9.99% compared to June of the previous year (year-on-year/YoY).

"The number of foreign tourist visits continues to increase over time and is approaching pre-pandemic levels," said the Acting Head of BPS, Amalia A. Widyasanti, in a press conference on Thursday (1/8/2024).

The majority of foreign tourists in June 2024 entered Indonesia through main entry points, totaling 997,260 visits, while 171,730 visits were through border crossings.

Most, or 798,790 visits, were made by foreign tourists using air transport, 173,610 via sea transport, and 24,860 via land transport.

In June 2024, the highest number of foreign tourists came from Malaysia (16.1%), followed by Singapore (13.4%), Australia (12.3%), China (8.4%), and India (6.4%).

Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to June 2024 reached 6.41 million people. This figure grew by 21.02% (cumulative-to-cumulative/C-t-C) compared to the same period last year.
