Jakarta's ICT Development Index Ranked Highest Nationally in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IP-TIK) of DKI Jakarta was 7.46 in 2020. This value was the highest among other provinces.

Yogyakarta was in second place with an IP-TIK score of 7.09 in 2020. Following was Bali with an IP-TIK score of 6.57 last year.

Then, there are 10 other provinces with IP-TIK scores above the national average of 5.59. They are Riau Islands (6.46), East Kalimantan (6.34), West Java (6), Banten (5.99), and North Kalimantan (5.98).

Central Java's IP-TIK score was also recorded at 5.74, followed by Riau with 5.74 and East Java with 5.73. North Sulawesi and South Kalimantan each had scores of 5.69 and 5.67 respectively.

Thus, the majority of provinces in Indonesia are in the medium category (IP-TIK score 5.01-7.5). Meanwhile, there are four provinces that are still in the low category (2.51-5), namely North Maluku, West Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua.

BPS also stated that the gap in ICT development has increased. This is because the distance between DKI Jakarta's highest IP-TIK and Papua's lowest has widened. The gap increased from 3.98 in 2019 to 4.11 in 2020.
