Mobile internet connections are now widely relied upon by people for downloading. Unfortunately, Indonesia's mobile internet speed is the slowest and least competitive compared to other countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN).
Based on data from the Speedtest Global Index, the median download speed of mobile internet in Indonesia was only 15.82 megabits per second (mbps) in November 2021. This figure places Indonesia's mobile internet speed at 107th out of 138 countries surveyed.
At the ASEAN level, Indonesia's mobile internet download speed is also the slowest, ranking 10th. Indonesia's position is below Cambodia, which has a mobile download speed of 16.51 mbps, and the Philippines with a speed of 18.68 mbps.
ASEAN countries with the fastest mobile download speeds include Singapore, reaching 63.41 mbps. This is followed by Brunei Darussalam with a download speed of 62.09 mbps, Vietnam with 35.14 mbps, and Thailand with 31.91 mbps.
Globally, the average mobile download speed is 29.06 mbps, while the upload speed is 8.53 mbps. The United Arab Emirates has the fastest mobile download speed in the world, reaching 136.42 mbps. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has the slowest, reaching only 5.24 mbps.
