According to a survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), 37.6% of Indonesians have developed a habit of saving.

Women are more likely to save than men.

The KIC survey found that 42.7% of female respondents set aside a portion of their income for savings, compared to only 33.5% of male respondents.

More than half of female respondents allocate 1%-20% of their monthly income to savings.

However, over 60% of female respondents believe their savings are only sufficient to cover their daily needs for the next 3 months.

Furthermore, 20.8% of female respondents stated their savings are sufficient for 4-6 months, 10.5% for 7-12 months, and 8.2% for more than a year.

The KIC conducted this online survey from September 6-12, 2021. A total of 5,204 respondents participated, using a *non-probability sampling* method.

Respondents were spread across Indonesia, with age criteria ranging from 13-70 years old and regular internet usage.
