A Populix survey reveals that 45% of 424 female respondents reported experiencing inequality and unpleasant experiences in the workplace.

The most prevalent form of gender bias, reported by 48% of respondents, was a pay gap. This was followed by catcalling and verbal harassment in public spaces, experienced by 40% of female respondents.

Furthermore, 27% of respondents did not receive menstrual leave, 25% lacked promotion opportunities, 10% did not have access to lactation facilities at work, and 5% did not receive maternity leave from their employer.

“These findings highlight the ongoing challenges related to gender-based issues in the workplace,” wrote Populix in its report titled *Women’s Equality in the Workplace*.

Populix conducted this online survey from March 20-24, 2024, involving 424 working women in Indonesia.

The majority of respondents were from Java (81%), followed by Sumatra (13%), and other islands (7%). Respondents were predominantly aged 17-25 years (45%) and 26-35 years (27%).
