A survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics shows that the majority of Indonesian internet data spending per month increased in 2022.

This increase in internet data spending occurred particularly in the group spending less than Rp50,000 to Rp100,000 per month.

Internet data spending in the Rp50,000 - Rp100,000 spending group was the highest last year, reaching 62%. This figure increased from 58.3% in 2021 and 54.4% in 2020.

Next, the group spending less than Rp50,000 ranked second in 2022 at 19.5%. This percentage also increased from 2021 but decreased from 2020, as seen in the graph above.

However, in the group spending more than Rp100,000 - Rp500,000 per month, internet data spending decreased in 2022.

For example, in the Rp100,000 - Rp300,000 spending group, it decreased from 19.6% to 16.4% in 2022. Then, in the Rp300,000 - Rp500,000 spending group, it decreased from 2.8% to 1.9%.

The group spending more than Rp500,000 had the lowest percentage. It decreased from 0.3% to 0% in 2022.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics and KIC conducted this survey on 10,000 internet users aged 13-70 years, spread across 34 provinces and 514 regencies/cities.

The survey was conducted during August-September 2022 through face-to-face interviews. Sampling used a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 0.98% and a 95% confidence interval.

Respondents had diverse backgrounds, including housewives, entrepreneurs, employees, students, farmers, and others. The complete report can be viewed and downloaded at this link.
