Lenovo Dominates Global PC Market in Q2 2024

According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), global shipments of personal computers (PCs) reached 64.9 million units in the second quarter of 2024.

This volume represents a 3% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to the 63.1 million units shipped in the second quarter of the previous year.

IDC attributes this growth in the PC market during the second quarter to the trend of artificial intelligence (AI).

"The AI PC trend and the commercial PC refresh cycle seem to be what the market needs," said Ryan Reith, Group VP Worldwide Device Tracker at IDC, in a press release on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

In Q2 2024, Lenovo was the leading PC manufacturer globally, shipping 14.7 million units, a 3.7% YoY increase.

HP Inc. ranked second, shipping 13.7 million PCs worldwide, a 1.8% YoY increase.

Dell Technologies followed with 10.1 million units shipped, a decrease of 2.4% YoY.

Apple ranked fourth with 5.7 million units shipped. However, the US-based manufacturer achieved the highest growth, with a 20.8% YoY increase.

Acer Group's PC shipments increased by 13.7% YoY to 4.4 million units, while shipments from other PC brands combined decreased by 1.1% YoY to 16.3 million units.
