Not all companies experienced losses during the Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, some companies even increased their workforce.
Revou published a study listing companies with the highest employee increases. Zenius, an Indonesian edutech (education technology) startup, experienced the largest increase in employees, at 21.67% in Q3 2021.
Zenius's employee count rose from 571 to 729. This was due to the launch of two new features: ZenCore, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) with gamification, launched in July 2021, and Zeniusland, an educational game targeted at elementary school students, launched in September 2021.
Halodoc, a healthtech company, ranked second with employee growth of 9.72%, increasing from 919 to 1018 employees. Previously, Halodoc's employee growth during the Covid-19 pandemic (April 2020-2021) was also high, at 26.76%.
Third place went to Shopee, an international e-commerce company, which saw a 9.61% increase in employees in Q3 2021. Shopee had the most significant employee addition in Q3 2021, adding 3,046 employees, increasing from 28,652 to 31,698.
Of the top 10 companies with the highest employee increases, two were Indonesian edutech companies, two were Indonesian healthtech companies, two were international e-commerce companies, two were Indonesian fintech companies, one was an Indonesian travel company, and one was an Indonesian e-commerce company.
