According to a Populix survey, consumption of cellular services is projected to increase during Ramadan 2024 compared to other months.

Forty-three percent of respondents said their frequency of cellular service use will increase this year during Ramadan.

Populix stated that the increased consumption of cellular services during Ramadan is primarily for internet-based services such as calls, messages, and data usage.

"This highlights the increasing reliance on digital communication during the holy month of Ramadan," Populix said in its report.

On the other hand, the Populix survey shows that the majority, or 53%, of respondents said their frequency of cellular service use during Ramadan this year will remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, only 4% of respondents said their frequency of cellular service use during Ramadan 2024 will decrease.

The Populix survey shows that the increase in cellular service usage mainly occurred in internet data usage (64%), internet-based calls (48%), and internet-based paid text messages (46%).

This online survey was conducted from February 22-25, 2024, involving 1,029 Muslim respondents. The majority of respondents were from Java (82%), followed by Sumatra (12%), and other islands (6%).

Respondents were predominantly young people aged 17-25 (40%) and 26-30 (22%), with 51% single and 40% married with children. Based on their occupation, most respondents were employees (59%), followed by students (14%) and entrepreneurs (14%).
