Bukalapak's 2020 Revenue Reached Rp 1.35 Trillion Ahead of Planned IPO

Bukalapak reported revenue of Rp 1.35 trillion (approximately US$93 million) in 2020. This represents a 25.5% increase compared to the previous year's Rp 1.08 trillion (approximately US$74 million). The figure is also almost five times higher than Bukalapak's 2018 revenue of Rp 292 billion (approximately US$20 million).

Bukalapak's revenue was dominated by its marketplace category, which generated Rp 1.03 trillion (approximately US$71 million) last year. Revenue in this category comes from sales commissions on the platform and marketing fees paid by merchants to promote their products.

Bukalapak also generated revenue from its Mitra (Partner) category, comprising sales commissions on the Bukalapak Mitra platform and from Mitra to consumers. This category contributed Rp 199 billion (approximately US$13 million) to the company's revenue.

Furthermore, the BukaPengadaan (Procurement) feature generated Rp 121 billion (approximately US$8 million) in revenue in 2020. This feature allows other companies to create and submit lists of needed goods, which the e-commerce platform then sources.

Bukalapak plans to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on July 29, 2021. The company will offer 25% of its shares to the public in this offering.
