East Kalimantan Province, the future location of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), boasts an average internet download speed higher than most provinces on Java Island.

This was reported by OpenSignal, a British internet network research firm, which conducted a comparative study of internet speeds across these provinces.

OpenSignal recorded an average internet download speed in East Kalimantan reaching 16.3 Mbps.

This figure is not far from Jakarta, which ranks highest with an average download speed of 17.5 Mbps.

Although still lower than Jakarta, East Kalimantan's average internet download speed surpasses Banten, East Java, Yogyakarta, West Java, and Central Java.

Based on data collected from January 1 to March 31, 2022, the average download speed in Javanese provinces outside of Jakarta ranged from 12-15 Mbps, as shown in the graph.

Regarding average upload speed, East Kalimantan only outperforms East Java, Yogyakarta, and Central Java, but still lags behind Jakarta, Banten, and West Java.
