Chatting Apps: Indonesia's Most Popular Applications

Based on a survey conducted by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) of 2,500 respondents across Indonesia, the most widely used internet service application is chatting or instant messaging. Currently, many applications provide such interaction services, such as WhatsApp, Line, FB Messenger, and others.

The survey found that 89.35% of the public use internet chatting services. This figure surpasses the use of social media services, which reached only 87.13% of respondents. Another popular internet service is search engines. 74.84% of respondents use such services in their daily activities.

Photo and video search services are also quite popular among internet users, especially young people. Meanwhile, the use of internet banking services remains minimal, used by only 7.39% of respondents. This presents a challenge for banks to make their offered applications easier, more convenient, and secure for transactions in the digital era.
