Based on data from the app research company Apptopia, Duolingo was the most downloaded education app globally in 2022. The US-based app was downloaded 98 million times throughout last year.

Duolingo is a platform for learning various foreign languages for free. The learning content offered is diverse, ranging from text and audio to visuals packaged like games.

Toca Life World ranked second as the world's most popular education app. This app was downloaded 72 million times in 2022.

Photomath followed in third place with a total of 42 million downloads throughout last year. This Google-owned education app helps users solve math problems by scanning a photo of the question.

Apptopia counted the number of downloads of these education apps from January 1 to December 20, 2022, on iOS and Android. However, specifically in China, Apptopia only counted iOS downloads.
