Most Indonesians believe that the spread of hoaxes can be prevented by double-checking circulating information.
This is evident from a survey report resulting from a collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) and the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), entitled *Digital Literacy Status in Indonesia 2022*.

Others check information through friends, family, teachers, neighbors, or community leaders (3.5%), social media (2.1%), chatbots (1.4%), online news (0.2%), and television (0.1%).
The Kominfo Ministry and KIC conducted this survey on 10,000 internet users aged 13-70 years spread across 34 provinces and 514 regencies/cities in Indonesia.
The survey was conducted during August-September 2022 through face-to-face interviews. Sampling was done using a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 0.98% and a 95% confidence interval.
