KIC Research: E-commerce Travel Sector Transaction Value Increases by 98%

Almost all e-commerce products experienced an increase in transaction value in 2019, except for electronics. Electronics experienced a 3% decrease, from Rp 334,183 in 2018 to Rp 323,220 the following year.

The highest increase was seen in airline tickets, hotels, and travel products. These products increased by 98%, from Rp 364,918 to Rp 721,843 in 2019. The change in transaction value is suspected to be due to last year's airline ticket inflation. According to the National Air Carriers Association (INACA), airline ticket prices increased by 40-120%.

Katadata Insight Center, in collaboration with Kredivo, conducted research on Indonesian e-commerce consumer behavior. The research covered more than 10 million sample transactions across several marketplaces (Blibli, Bukalapak, JD.ID, Lazada, Shopee, and Tokopedia). Data was sourced from nearly one million Kredivo users from January to December 2019.
