Populix conducted a survey of Indonesian online dating app users in early 2024.

One of the findings was that a majority, or 50%, of users admitted to having found a date through the app, but the relationship did not last long.

Furthermore, 13% of users found a date, and the relationship was still ongoing at the time of the survey.

Meanwhile, only 7% of users whose dates led to marriage. 30% of users of similar apps had never been on a date at all.

Populix also asked about the steps users took to achieve a "match" or find a suitable partner through dating apps.

The results showed that 54% of respondents said they continued conversations from the dating app to a more private chat application.

Then, 53% only communicated through the dating app, 51% exchanged social media accounts, 50% checked social media to verify their partner's identity, and 21% arranged in-person meetings.

This survey was conducted from January 15-22, 2024, with 1,165 respondents in Indonesia, which was then narrowed down to 732 respondents who were users of online dating apps.

The majority of respondents were from Java (80%), followed by Sumatra (13%), and other islands (8%). Respondents were predominantly in the 17-25 age group (44%) and the 26-35 age group (38%).
