According to the *Indonesia Gen Z Report 2024*, released by the IDN Research Institute in collaboration with Advisia, six key issues are of concern to Gen Z in the 2024 General Election.
Gen Z's greatest concern is job opportunities, with 35% of respondents selecting this option.
Next are issues related to welfare and corruption eradication, highlighted by 27.7% and 21.3% of respondents, respectively.
This is followed by issues concerning health (7%), democracy and civil liberties (5.7%), the environment (2.3%), and other issues (2.1%).
“These priorities likely stem from the personal challenges they face,” wrote the IDN Research Institute in its report.
Furthermore, the survey recorded that 70.3% of Gen Z respondents stated they would participate in all stages of the 2024 General Election.
Meanwhile, 15% of Gen Z respondents will only participate in the presidential election. Another 13% remain undecided and indicated their intention to abstain.
This survey was conducted from May 29 to July 9, 2023, involving 602 Gen Z respondents spread across 10 cities and agglomerations in Indonesia: Jabodetabek, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Palembang, Medan, Balikpapan, and Makassar.
The IDN Research Institute defines Gen Z as males and females aged 11-26 years in 2023, or during the survey period.
