According to a survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), around 27% of Indonesians accessed artificial intelligence (AI) in 2025.

Of this group, the majority often access AI content related to education (43.98%), followed by entertainment (29.52%), virtual assistants (13.48%), and AI for productivity (12.37%).

When broken down by generation, AI content for education or learning, such as educational chatbots and AI-based courses, is more frequently accessed by Gen Z with a percentage of 49.89%.

Meanwhile, AI content for entertainment, such as generative videos or images, is more frequently accessed by Gen X compared to other generations with a percentage of 37.35%.

Millennials excel in accessing AI content for virtual assistants, such as Siri/Google Assistant, with a percentage of 17.02%.

Finally, AI content for productivity, such as automatic writing, copywriting, and data analysis, is more frequently accessed by baby boomers, reaching 19.23%.

APJII conducted this survey from April 10 to July 16, 2025, involving 8,700 respondents spread proportionally across 38 Indonesian provinces.

The criteria for respondents were aged at least 13 years, including people who are not in school, primary and secondary school graduates, and college graduates.

The respondents came from various professional backgrounds, including students, university students, and those who are not working and taking care of household duties.

The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews, with a margin of error of +/- 1.1%.
