According to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by companies in Indonesia has implications for labor needs at every level.

PwC found this out after surveying 126 chief executive officers (CEOs) of Indonesian companies from September 30 to November 10, 2025.

The respondents were asked about how the application of AI in their companies would affect labor needs over the next three years.

The results show that the estimated changes in labor needs due to AI are more stable for middle-level and senior employees.

This indicates that the higher the employee's seniority, the lower the likelihood of labor changes. This is because human supervision is still needed in AI-supported work processes.

"When middle-level employees often play a role in reviewing AI results, applying assessments, and managing risks," PwC explained in its report.

However, for junior-level employees, the estimated changes in labor needs due to AI show diverse prospects.

"This may prompt companies to re-evaluate the way they recruit new talent and support early career development," PwC said.

Here are the details of the estimated changes in labor needs in Indonesia due to the application of AI in companies over the next three years, based on career levels, according to PwC's survey:

Senior level

Decrease: 10%
Little or no change: 60%
Increase: 25%

Middle level

Decrease: 19%
Little or no change: 44%
Increase: 30%

Junior level

Decrease: 40%
Little or no change: 20%
Increase: 36%
