According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the percentage of students aged 5-23 years in Indonesia using mobile phones and [internet](https://databoks.katadata.co.id/tags/internet) was relatively high in March 2025.
However, the percentage of students using computers/laptops was much lower, not even reaching 20%.
"As many as 85.78% of students aged 5-23 years used mobile phones, and 83.80% used the internet. However, only 19.80% used computers/laptops," BPS wrote in its Education Statistics 2025.
Based on education level, BPS stated that the higher the education level, the greater the percentage of students using these three things.
"The use of mobile phones and the internet at the junior high school equivalent, senior high school/vocational high school equivalent, and higher education (PT) levels has already reached over 90%," BPS revealed.
The following are the details of the percentage of students aged 5-23 years using mobile phones, the internet, and computers/laptops by education level in March 2025:
Mobile phones
- Higher education: 99.51%
- Senior high school/Vocational high school equivalent: 97.83%
- Junior high school equivalent: 92.45%
- Elementary school equivalent: 75.49%
Internet
- Higher education: 99.29%
- Senior high school/Vocational high school equivalent: 97.47%
- Junior high school equivalent: 91.04%
- Elementary school equivalent: 72.26%
Computers/Laptops
- Higher education: 64.24%
- Senior high school/Vocational high school equivalent: 34.40%
- Junior high school equivalent: 20.74%
- Elementary school equivalent: 5%
Reviewed by gender, the use of mobile phones and the internet did not differ significantly between males and females. However, the percentage of females using computers/laptops was slightly higher than male students.
"Based on disability status, the percentage of mobile phone, computer/laptop, and internet use among non-disabled individuals was higher compared to disabled groups," BPS explained.
