According to a Populix survey, some Indonesians have had negative experiences related to artificial intelligence (AI).

As many as 34% of respondents have seen others addicted to or overly reliant on AI.

Furthermore, 31% have seen misleading deepfake content, and 30% feel that AI is taking over or replacing human creativity, such as in design, writing, and other fields.

Other negative experiences include having read or believed AI-generated hoaxes (25%), being bothered by AI starting to fill communication spaces (18%), and feeling underestimated at work due to AI (15%).

Meanwhile, only 19% of respondents reported having no negative experiences related to AI.

"Although AI offers many benefits, people want clear boundaries," said Populix in its report titled AI in Everyday Life.

Populix conducted this online survey from June 10-12, 2025, involving 1,100 respondents across Indonesia.

The majority of respondents were located on Java Island (79%), followed by Sumatra (13%), and other islands (8%).
