The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has released the *Indonesian Digital Society Index (IMDI) 2025* report. The findings reveal obstacles faced by the Indonesian public in utilizing digital platforms.
The most significant barrier, reported by 17.74% of respondents, was not understanding how to perform digital activities.
Other barriers include high connection or data costs (12.11%), poor connection (10.01%), uncertainty about personal data security (8.85%), uncertainty about device security (5.55%), and not owning a digital device (4.44%).
Additionally, 28.02% of respondents stated they were not interested in or did not need digital platforms. "This indicates that a portion of the public has not yet seen the relevance of using digital services in their daily lives," Komdigi wrote in its report.
Meanwhile, 13.29% of respondents claimed to have no issues with using digital platforms.
To enhance the public's digital skills, Komdigi emphasized the importance of expanding access and equitable connectivity, as well as strengthening data security to build public trust.
"These efforts can be complemented by policies for more affordable internet tariffs and regular monitoring of program effectiveness. This will encourage broader public participation and support national digital transformation," Komdigi stated.
Komdigi conducted this survey on 18,564 individual respondents aged 15-64 and 11,901 industry respondents spread across 514 regencies/cities. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 5% with a 95% confidence level.
