According to Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas), the majority of Indonesian netizens reject the proposed increase in salaries and allowances for members of the House of Representatives (DPR).

Of all social media discussions about the proposal, monitored by Litbang Kompas from August 16-26, 2025, the majority, or 88.9%, contained negative sentiment.

Furthermore, 9.4% of discussions expressed neutral sentiment, and only 1.7% had a positive connotation.

"This phenomenon indirectly reveals the widening gap between the will of the people and the political behavior of their representatives in parliament," wrote Litbang Kompas in its report on Friday, August 29, 2025.

According to Litbang Kompas' findings, netizen outrage was evident since DPR members performed a dance at the Parliament Building on August 16, 2025. This was deemed inappropriate amidst widespread criticism of the representatives' performance.

At that time, negative netizen sentiment reached 94.7%, with only 0.6% giving positive comments.
