According to a We Are Social report, in Q1 2025, the average global internet user spent 426 minutes (7 hours 6 minutes) per week browsing social media.
Nigeria had the longest average social media access duration, reaching 826 minutes (13 hours 46 minutes) per week—almost double the global average.
Indonesia ranked 17th globally, with an average social media access duration of 529 minutes (8 hours 49 minutes) per week.

We Are Social compiled this data from the Q1 2025 GWI survey report, sampling internet users aged 16 and older worldwide.
The report found that the majority (50.5%) of global respondents accessed social media to connect with family and friends.
Others used social media to fill their free time (39.3%), read news (35.9%), and search for content such as articles or videos (30.5%).
