A YouGov survey reveals that 82% of Indonesian parents allow their children to access social media in various forms.

Although permitting access, 35% regularly monitor their children's social media activity.

Furthermore, 28% of respondents do not allow their children to have personal social media accounts but occasionally permit them to use parental devices to access social media.

Another 14% allow their children to use social media with specific time limits. However, 4% allow unrestricted access.

Meanwhile, only 18% of parents completely prohibit their children from using social media.

The survey also indicates that TikTok is considered the most dangerous social media platform for children, according to 58% of respondents. X (formerly Twitter) was deemed risky by 51% of respondents.

"In comparison, YouTube and Instagram are considered safer platforms, although many respondents held neutral stances regarding their potential dangers," YouGov stated in its report.

YouGov conducted this survey among 892 respondents aged 18 and above across various regions in Indonesia. Data collection was conducted online in January 2025.
