According to a Samsung Electronics survey, artificial intelligence (AI) is already very popular among young people in Southeast Asia.

"Almost 9 out of 10 young people already use AI in their daily routines, and the main platform they use to access AI services is through mobile devices," Samsung said in its report (April 17, 2025).

The following is a list of the purposes of AI use in the daily lives of young people in Southeast Asia in 2024, according to the Samsung survey:

* Learning: 78% of respondents

* Creativity: 56% of respondents

* Stay informed: 38% of respondents

Samsung conducted this survey from August to October 2024, involving 884 respondents aged 13-24 years from five Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

Specifically for Indonesian youth, the proportion of AI usage purposes was 73% for learning, 56% for creativity, and 32% for obtaining information.

Samsung also found that mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, play a significant role in the adoption of AI technology.

This is evident from the 60% of young Southeast Asian respondents who prefer using AI via mobile devices.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the proportion of young people who choose mobile devices as the primary means of accessing AI reaches 78%.

"This trend is expected to continue, as more and more young people expect mobile devices to be their primary mode of access to AI in the future," said Samsung.
