According to the Ipsos Global Trustworthiness Index 2024 report, a majority of the global population (56%) distrust social media influencers.

Broken down by generation, the highest percentage of distrust comes from Boomers, with 67% admitting to distrusting the profession.

High percentages of distrust towards social media influencers were also shown by Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z, with 58%, 52%, and 48%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the highest level of trust in social media influencers across generations was only 20% for Gen Z. Millennials showed 18%, Gen X 13%, and Boomers 9%.

Based on the Ipsos Global Trustworthiness Ranking 2024, social media influencers ranked 20th out of 21 professions trusted by the public. According to Ipsos, only 15% of respondents trust the profession.
