Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network (SAFEnet) data reveals a total of 330 digital attack incidents in Indonesia in 2024. This averages 27.5 incidents per month.

By type, hacking accounted for the most incidents, with 86 cases. This represents a significant increase from the 68 incidents recorded in 2023.

SAFEnet attributed the decrease in phishing incidents to reduced distribution and victims of Android Package Kit (APK) malware, suggesting increased awareness and better mitigation efforts.

"Although there are still victims with losses reaching Rp75 million due to more sophisticated APKs than previously circulated," SAFEnet wrote.
