According to a Business of Apps report, YouTube's global active user count reached 2.748 billion in Q4 2024, a new record high since 2020.

The number of active users of the Google-owned video application increased slightly by 0.47% quarter-to-quarter (QtQ) compared to the previous quarter (2.735 billion users). The Q4 2024 figure also saw a slight increase of 0.1% compared to Q2 2024 (2.745 billion users).

Year-on-year (YoY), YouTube's active users grew by 0.77%.

Despite the relatively stagnant user growth, YouTube's revenue surged by 17.39% (QtQ) to US$10.47 billion in Q4 2024.

"YouTube reached 2.74 billion active users in 2024, making it one of the most popular apps globally, second only to Google and Facebook in total usage," wrote Business of Apps in its report on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Globally, the trend shows that YouTube's active user count has continued to grow for over a decade.

In Q1 2020, the global active user count was only 234 million. The number of users then began to grow significantly from the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as shown in the attached graph.
