According to a We Are Social report, surveying global internet users aged 16 and above, 55.8% of respondents reported regularly shopping online weekly in Q3 2024.

The survey also found that the main factor driving global internet users to shop online was the offer of free delivery, with a proportion of 52.6%.

Furthermore, 40.2% shopped online due to coupons or discounts, 33.2% because of buyer reviews, 31.9% due to easy return processes, and 28.7% because of simple checkout or payment processes.

Others shopped online due to fast shipping, loyalty points, social media comments, eco-friendly certifications, interest-free payments, cash on delivery (COD) services, and other factors as shown in the graph.

We Are Social also noted that Thailand had the highest proportion of consumers shopping online globally.

In Q3 2024, 69.2% of internet users aged 16 and above in Thailand regularly shopped online weekly.

Following Thailand were South Korea with 64%, the United Arab Emirates with 63.6%, Malaysia with 62.9%, and China with 62.5%.

Indonesia ranked 10th globally, with 58% of internet users shopping online weekly.
