According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), domestic smartphone shipments in Indonesia nearly reached 40 million units in 2024. This represents a 15.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

IDC Indonesia Research Analyst Vanessa Aurelia stated that while the domestic smartphone market shows signs of recovery after weakening in previous years, conditions are still not fully improved.

"Consumers remain apprehensive amidst global political and economic uncertainty. Growth continues to come from supply-side strength, while overall demand remains sluggish," said Vanessa in her report on Tuesday (February 11, 2025).

Last year, Transsion led smartphone shipments to Indonesia with a market share of 18.3%, a surge of 61.7% YoY from 2023.

Following Transsion was OPPO with a 17.8% smartphone shipment share, down 7.6%.

Samsung came in third with a 17.2% shipment share last year. The South Korean phone manufacturer was the only one to experience a decline, a slight decrease of 0.6% YoY.

Next was Xiaomi with a 16.5% share of smartphone shipments to Indonesia, a jump of 28.4% YoY, and Vivo with a 15.3% share, up 9.2% YoY.

Meanwhile, the market share of smartphone shipments from other brands reached 14.8%, up 2.3% YoY.
