Jakarta, Province with the Highest Number of Layoff Victims until November 2024

According to data from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), 67,870 employees experienced layoffs (PHK) in Indonesia between January and November 2024.

During this period, the highest number of layoffs was recorded in DKI Jakarta, with 14,501 affected individuals, representing 21.37% of the national total.

Other provinces with the highest number of layoffs nationally were Central Java (13,012 people), Banten (10,727 people), and West Java (9,510 people).

Up to November 2024, no layoff cases were reported from West Papua and Papua.

It should be noted that this data does not represent all layoff cases in Indonesia, as Kemnaker only records layoffs reported by companies through the Manpower Service Information and Application System and/or industrial relations courts.

The government is increasing the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) to 60% of the laid-off employee's salary for six months, effective January 1, 2025.

Currently, the JKP is 45% of the previous salary for the first three months and 20% of the salary for the following three months.

"With the increase in JKP, we hope that workers can improve their chances of returning to work and maintain their purchasing power when facing layoffs by utilizing the JKP," said Manpower Minister Yassierli, as reported by *Katadata*, Monday (December 16, 2024).
