Of this opposing group, 39% rejected being childfree because they believe children are a gift from God. Then 27% reasoned they wanted to continue the family line, and 24% believed that having children would increase happiness.

There were also 10% who opposed being childfree because they wanted someone to care for them in old age.

This Populix survey was conducted online via the PopPoll application from November 14-18, 2024.

According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2022 there were 8.2% or approximately 71,000 ever-married women of reproductive age in Indonesia who chose to be childfree.
