Running has become a trending sport in society. Numerous communities, brands, and institutions are organizing marathon running events with various course categories.
According to a Populix survey, 36% of respondents participate in marathon running events to test their abilities.
Furthermore, 27% of respondents said they were interested out of curiosity about marathons, 17% participated because they were invited by close relatives, and 11% were attracted by the prizes offered.
Another 5% of respondents were simply following the trend, and 4% had other reasons.
In addition, the Populix survey also found that the majority, or 77%, of respondents had participated in 5K (5-kilometer) runs.
"The 5k run category is considered light and suitable for beginners or those who want to maintain fitness without facing overly strenuous physical challenges," wrote Populix on its official Instagram account on Tuesday (October 22, 2024).
Then, 15% of respondents had participated in 10k runs, 6% in half marathons (21k), and only 2% had ever participated in full marathons (42k).
This Populix survey was conducted online via the PopPoll application from February 2-5, 2024, involving 2,228 respondents.
