Currently, *shine muscat* grapes are attracting attention after the Thai government found dangerous chemicals in *shine muscat* grapes imported from China.
One of the chemicals found was chlorpyrifos, a dangerous chemical banned in Thailand. In addition, 14 types of harmful pesticide residues were found exceeding acceptable limits.
Responding to these findings, the Head of Indonesia's Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Taruna Ikrar, stated that his agency is coordinating to investigate the *shine muscat* grape case. Coordination is being carried out with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the Ministry of Agriculture, and the National Quarantine Agency.
"Information from Bapanas indicates that sampling, testing, and permit tracing are currently underway," said Taruna in a statement, as reported by *Harian Kompas* on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
During the inspection process, Taruna urged the public to limit consumption of *shine muscat* grapes circulating in the market.
"The public is also urged not to panic and to always check if they receive information regarding products suspected of containing dangerous chemicals," he said.
