The Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) conducted a survey on internet access utilization in the education sector in underdeveloped villages.

The results show that 31% of students in these areas utilize the internet to access additional learning resources such as learning videos, e-books, and interactive learning materials.

Furthermore, 22% of students use the internet to search for information and conduct research for projects or assignments.

Next, 18.50% of educators in the villages have participated in online professional training and development, and 16% of students and educators use the internet to explore digital technology.

Meanwhile, 12.5% of students and educators in underdeveloped villages have not utilized internet access for educational or learning needs.

In addition, the majority, or 48.5%, of teachers in underdeveloped villages view the internet as facilitating access to information and learning resources. Another 25.3% of educators feel assisted by internet access but still face technical difficulties.

The APJII survey involved 1,950 respondents from 64 underdeveloped districts spread across 17 provinces. Data collection was conducted from July to September 2024 through face-to-face and telephone interviews.

According to the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Regulation (Permendes-PDTT) Number 11 of 2020, "underdeveloped regions" are districts whose areas and communities are less developed than other regions on a national scale.

59.23% of respondents were male and 40.77% were female. Respondents were dominated by millennials aged 28-43 years (40.10%), followed by Generation Z aged 12-27 years (34.36%), and Generation X aged 44-59 years (6.05%).
