According to a Cyberint report, there were 1,227 global ransomware attacks in Q2 2024. This represents a 21.85% quarter-to-quarter (QtQ) increase from the previous quarter's 1,048 cases.

By sector, the majority of ransomware attacks targeted the business services sector, with 305 cases. This accounts for 28.5% of all global ransomware cases in Q2 of this year.

Ransomware attacks also hit the retail sector (185 cases) and manufacturing (124 cases).

The construction, government, and finance sectors each experienced 58 ransomware attacks during the second quarter.

Ransomware also affected the healthcare, transportation, technology, and education sectors, although with fewer cases as shown in the graph.

By country, the United States was the most targeted country for ransomware attacks in Q2 2024, with 611 cases, representing 47.8% of global attacks.

It was followed by the United Kingdom with 85 cases, Canada with 66 cases, and Germany with 49 cases during the same period.
