According to a survey by Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), in 2022, the majority of Indonesian e-commerce businesses delivered goods to Java Island.

"The delivery areas served by e-commerce businesses in Indonesia are mostly located on Java Island, amounting to 77.23%," stated BPS in its *eCommerce Statistics 2022/2023* report.

However, only a small number serve deliveries outside Java.

The proportion of local e-commerce players serving deliveries to Sumatra Island is only 14.54%, Kalimantan 7.41%, Bali-Nusa Tenggara 6.2%, Sulawesi 5.49%, and Maluku-Papua only 1.53%.

The BPS survey also shows that more than half of Indonesian e-commerce businesses (55.3%) send their products directly to buyers.

Then there are those who implement a system where buyers pick up orders directly at the store/pickup point (36.59%), and goods are sent through a shipping service (7.32%). There are also those who provide a service to download their products from a website/application (0.79%).

BPS conducted this survey on a sample of 31,753 e-commerce businesses spread across 34 provinces and 302 regencies/cities. The sample in this survey consists of business actors who used the internet to receive orders or sell goods/services in 2022.
